What a pleasure to hear your gorgeous music on The World tonight! I went right to the internet and bought both your albums, after being unable to find them on iTunes.

Your musicianship is so full of sensitivity and expressiveness. Any performances coming up?

I heard Lisa Mullins’ interview with Waleed Howrani and was so impressed. I have very eclectic tastes in music — jazz, blues, ragtime, rock … and am also a fan of several contemporaryArabic and African performers. I love the way that Waleed blended American, Arabic and Russian musical traditions to create original variations on classic tunes. I was also impressed by his personal story, his persistance in the face of physical and emotional adversity, and the beautiful and whimsical compositions that he has evoked from– or in spite of–those experiences.
